dish the dirt on a salon of eccentric clients and discover
how self-image affects us all. A wild range of women,
personalities, hairstyles and trends emerge in this funny,
poignant blowout of African-American sisterhood and

ZINA
CAMBLIN recently completed a year-long residency
at The Juilliard School under Marsha Norman and
Christopher Durang, as a part of the Juilliard
Playwrighting Fellowship. While at Juilliard, she
has received the Lecomte du Nouy Prize for
playwrighting. Her play, And Her Hair Went With
Her, was selected as part of Lincoln Centers
Directors Lab play reading series and enjoyed a
successful reading as a part of the Lab. In
addition, And Her Hair Went With Her enjoyed
successful readings at The Culture Project, the
Tribeca Theater Festival, and most recently as part
of New Jersey Repertory Theater’s Script in Hand
Series.The play was at the Phoenix Theater in
Indianapolis in April 2007 and will be at to the New
Jersey Repertory Company, Horizon Theater in
Atlanta, and the Bailiwick Theater in Chicago. Past
productions and workshops of her other work include:
Memoirs to Live/ Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Bedroom
Stories/ Jon Sims Center for the Performing Arts, in
San Francisco, Life’s a Drag/ UC San Diego, and
Bunni and Clyde/Know Theater. As a consultant for
NYU’s Creative Arts Team, she helped to create
several interactive theatre scripts for young
audiences. As an assistant writer, she contributed
to The Jonestown Project, a commission by Berkeley
Repertory Theater. Zina is a native of Cincinnati
and received her MFA in Acting from UC San Diego
where she was also a recipient of a San Diego
Playbill Award. As an African American playwright
she is committed to creating unique and strong
voices for women of color.
JACQUELINE L. GAFFORD (DIRECTOR) is happy to
be working at the Unicorn once again. Her work was
last seen on this stage as director of The Women
of Brewster Place. Over the years Jacqee has
acted and directed numerous Unicorn productions.
Favorite acting roles include Miz Leah in Flyin'
West and Bessie in Having Our Say. When
not working at the Unicorn, Jacqee is Producing
Artistic Director of InPlay Theatre Company.
NEDRA
DIXON (JASMINE) is delighted to continue her growing
affiliation with the Unicorn Theatre in this production of
And Her Hair Went With Her! She stood at the helm as
director/choreographer of the Unicorn's recent staging of
the award-winning musical, Grey Gardens. And
audiences may remember seeing her here in both The Women
of Brewster Place and bare. Nedra's rich and
diverse theatrical career includes performing, directing,
choreography, concert and cabaret work in venues from
Broadway and Off-Broadway to stock and regional productions,
naming just a few: Bubblin’ Brown Sugar, Tintypes, Hair,
Once On This Island, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Kiss Me Kate,
Into The Woods, Jesus Christ Superstar, Children of Eden,
Anything Goes, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Honk, Having Out
Say, Beehive and Songs For a New World.
Currently, she is featured weekly as a vocalist/host on
Kansas City's hot, new radio show, 12 O'CLOCK JUMP, a jazz,
blues and comedy hour, broadcast LIVE on NPR affiliate, KCUR
(89.3 FM), from the Mutual Musicians Foundation in the
Historic 18th and Vine Jazz District. Nedra's (or Nikki, as
her friends know her!) theatre life has been filled with
unforgettable, artistic moments shared with so many precious
and gifted and stellar friends, however, the most brilliant
nova in her universe is her beautiful daughter, Jasmin.
TEISHA M. BANKSTON (ANGIE) has been a performer in the
art of theatre, film, and dance in Kansas City since she was
about 11 years old. Since then, Teisha has been a
professional dancer for Neil Young at Starlight; Beneatha in
A Raisin in the Sun with InPlay Theatre; in roles for Theatre For
Young America including performing in Africa's Daughters
and Toughest Kid in the World, for the UMKC
theatre department and graduate theatre department including
in Reckless as Pooty (for which she was an Irene Ryan
Nominee), Lesly in House of Yes, ensemble in
Meanwhile, Irene/Isabel in American Clock, Diana
in Darker Face of the Earth, and Cassandra in
Trojan Women. Teisha has understudied for the Kansas
City Repertory Theatre’s A Young Lady from Rwanda and
Jitney. She is a DAEP member of the Coterie where
she performed as Nyasha in Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters
and as Pokie in A Star Ain't Nothin' But a Hole in Heaven.
Teisha holds a BFA in Theatre Performance and a minor in
Spanish from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Teisha
would like to thank Dad, Mom, Armando, and the rest of her
beautiful family for their love and support; Cynthia and
Jacqee for the opportunity to tell this story!
