About Dr. Norge W. Jerome
Dr. Norge W. Jerome is a Nutritional
Anthropologist, International Health and Nutrition Scientist, and Women
in Development Specialist. She was born and raised on the southern
Caribbean island of Grenada and came to the United States to study at
Howard University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree (Magna
Cum Laude). Following her work at Howard, she received a Master’s
degree and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. During her
doctoral work, she began merging the disciplines of human nutrition and
anthropology which led to her pioneering role launching nutritional
anthropology as a discipline within anthropology.
Dr. Jerome truly believes in “giving
back” by spending her financial resources and energies empowering
education and non-profit community organizations. In 1998 she founded
the Dr. Norge W. Jerome Grenada Teachers Awards program to honor
legendary educators and teachers in Grenada. Dr. Jerome established the
Norge Winifred Jerome
Public Faculty/Public Scholar Program at the KU School of Social Welfare
through a contribution to the KU First Campaign. This gift ensures KU
will develop mutually beneficial partnerships with “Communities of
Color” to improve the quality of life of these communities.

As you can see, the
renovation at the Unicorn includes The Jerome Stage and reception area in the front of the building. A new coffee bar,
box office and restrooms will make an evening at the Unicorn accessible
and more enjoyable for everyone.
The generosity of local foundations and individuals has enabled us to
build Te Jerome Stage and renovate The Mainstage (Late summer 2008).
